What is TRIO Student Support Services?

SSS provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and motivates students toward the successful completion of their post-secondary education. The goal of SSS is to increase college retention and graduation rates of participants. The program is 100% federally funded through a grant by the U.S. Department of Education. We fall under the federal TRIO programs umbrella that also contains Upward Bound, Talent Search, etc…

What Services does TRIO SSS provide?
• Individualized advising and coaching
• One-on-one tutoring
• Student development workshops
• Cultural experience opportunities
• And more…

Who is eligible for TRIO SSS services?
Students do have to apply to be accepted into the program in order to receive services. All SSS participants must be admitted to UAFS, be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, and be on track to graduate college within 6 years. Students must also meet one of the following criteria:

• Be a first generation college student (aka neither of their parents have a bachelor’s degree) and/or
• Meet certain low income standards and/or
• Have a documented disability

If a student meets our eligibility requirements and is accepted into the program, they will stay in the program until they graduate.
